Israel has been engaged in military action in Gaza under the leadership of Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu since the October 2023 attack. During these months, more than than 45 thousand Palestinians have died in Gaza and Israel has suffered many losses too. While Israel agreed to the ceasefire deal in November last year, it is still in the process of trying in the process of destroying the Houthi rebels of Yemen.
The war has been going for one year with no end in sight, but, if reports are to be believed, Israel is now preparing to win against the Houthi rebels of Yemen with the help of its neighboring Islamic country.
Under pressure from Israel, the Arab Republic of Egypt, commonly known as Egypt is planning to launch a major airstrike against the Houthi rebels in Yemen and this action might end the conflict in Israel’s favour.
Israel would continue acting against Houthis
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would continue acting against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, whom he accused of threatening world shipping and the international order, and called on Israelis to be steadfast.
Last month, Israeli jets launched a series of strikes against energy and port infrastructure in Yemen in a move officials said was a response to hundreds of missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthis since the start of the Gaza war 14 months ago.
Statement from Israel PM Netanyahu
“As we acted forcefully against the terror arms of Iran’s evil axis, so we will act against the Houthis. Only in this case, we are not acting alone. The U.S. and other countries see the Houthis as a threat not only to international shipping but to the international order. Therefore, we will act forcefully, with determination and sophistication. I tell you, even if it takes time, the result will be the same result – as against the other terror arms”, PM Netanyahu said.
The Israeli government shared images on Sunday of Netanyahu’s security cabinet meeting in northern Israel, where the officials examined weapons and war materials it said were seized in the south of Lebanon. They also visited a mock tunnel and a mock command center that the prime minister’s office said was similar to those found during operations in Lebanon.
The Houthis have launched repeated attacks on international shipping in waters near Yemen since November 2023, in support of the Palestinians over Israel‘s war with Hamas.
