Hey all, we crowdsourced 44 Long Covid patient stories to make this video, from online patient forums on Discord, Facebook and Reddit such as r/LongCovid, Covid-19 Longhaulers Patient Advocacy Group, and r/covidlonghaulers. This data viz was created to raise awareness and build empathy for those with Long Covid, as well as to highlight the need for medical research on Long Covid since there’s still no approved medical treatment, nearly 5 years post pandemic.
I’ve had long covid since Oct ’22 and I created this viz using Figma, Procreate, Excel/Sheets, Google Survey and ScreenStudio. We reached out to a multitude of LC patient advocacy groups to collect respondent’s stories. Enjoy, and please share widely if you feel so inclined!
I appreciate the effort that went into this. I would be much more interested in data presented in the form of statistics and static charts. I would love to know who is feeling what kind of symptoms, how severe, and for how long.
It’s crazy how much long COVID has flown under the radar of most of the public. One of the science YouTubers I follow (PhysicsGirl, her real name is Dianna) was young, active, and had no history of medical problems, and after a bout of COVID she’s spent more than 2 years bedridden, and can barely speak or hold coherent thoughts. It’s basically ruined her life. Long COVID is no joke.
