About time. Need these in every town and city everywhere really, not just Scotland.
Not sure you’ll find many cocaine users attending but for safe heroin use, this can only be good.
Smart idea. I was in Sydney when they launched these, and they ended up working really well despite some initial trepidation from the community. Takes a lot of needles of the streets and addicts are offered help if they want to get clean. Totally non judgmental.
Good first step, I guess.
But the Govt should be providing heroin free, needles free, and a safe and comfortable space to inject, with training for the user.
When the user then feels comfortable, they should be offered therapy.
Anything less is a half measure.
It’s a good first step. But it’s maddening that these policies have been around in other countries for 30 years and they’ve already moved on to a much more holistic and intensive approach towards addressing drug addiction. We should welcome the policy, but can we miss the next 20 years of doing fuck all and just skip to the next bit where we treat addiction as a proper health condition that needs intensive treatment and resources???
Nothing to see here
