3. I’ve no problem with increased defense spending, let’s have a 2% wealth tax on profits from UK assets, including the royals. Let the rich show their patriotism for once.

4. People only want to pay for this stuff when there is a clear and present threat, it’s then usually too late.

5. The whole point of a nuclear deterrent is to not need a conventional one.

   Investing in ABM systems would just tell Putin that we have a level of ‘acceptable’ conventional bombardment.
