Meghan Markle was banned from saying certain words in Suits after the Royal Family had them cut from the script.
The actor hadnât even met Prince Harry when she first started playing the role of Rachel Zane in the popular US legal drama.
But, of course, when she exited the TV show in 2018, Markle was engaged to the royal and set to become the Duchess of Sussex.
The pair first met back in July 2016, going public with their engagement in November 2017 â not long after the seventh series of Suits had finished.
It eventually ended for good in 2019, but did see quite a boost in viewers after being added to Netflix, with the creator admitting the âMeghan Markle effectâ may have come into play.
Aaron Korsh was just âas excited in some ways as everybody elseâ when he found out the star was dating a member of our royal family.
But that doesnât mean her relationship didnât impact how things went at Suits.
âI mean, your initial reaction is, like, ‘Weâre dating a prince!’â he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“But the security and all that stuff, we shot in Toronto and the writers room was in L.A., so other people were dealing with that.
“I will say, and I think Harry put this in the book [Spare], because I heard people talking about it â [the Royal Family] weighed in on some stuff.”
While there apparently wasnât âmany thingsâ the royals did get involved with, the relationship did unfortunately mean there were ‘a few things that [showrunners] wanted to do and couldnât do’.
Korsh added: âIt was a little irritating.â
According to the creator, the list of things the team âcouldnât doâ included the use of a specific word in the script for Markleâs character.
“Look, Iâll just say what the line was. My wifeâs family, when they have a topic to discuss that might be sensitive, they use the word ‘poppycock,’â Korsh explained.

“Letâs say you wanted to do something that you knew your husband didnât want to do, but you wanted to at least discuss it, and in just discussing it, you wouldnât hold him to anything he said, youâd be like, ‘Itâs poppycock’.
“So, in the episode, Mike and Rachel were going to have a thing, and as a nod to my in-laws, we were going to have her say, ‘My family would say poppycock.’ And the Royal Family did not want her saying the word.”
The creator believes the instruction came because the royals were worried about the clip being cut down to just âc*ckâ.
Although, they apparently were happy enough with it being changed to âbulls**tâ â bet you weren’t expecting that, right?
