Oh look another highly leveraged private equity making redundancies to all the hard working staff, whilst they continue to rake in millions and buy another yacht.
Well start from the top
Well that’ll sort the economy and lead a better holiday next year!
Meanwhile top end of Asda have higher wages and bonuses every year.
“Oh,no! We’ve made only 1 billion in profit!… Quick! Fire those who did this to us!”
Bet the top dogs won’t take a pay cut like Japanese bosses do…..instead it’s sack people and let the state have to pay even more support out
According to The Grocer Magazine, the directors of Asda earn salaries of roughly £1.3 million, each.
Each director earns the salary of roughly 50 full-time Asda workers.
Yeah that’s the problem with Asda! Too much staff.
Was in Asda today and there were already fuck all staff about. Had to wait 5 minutes for my approval. Queues everywhere, what are they going to cut?
I keep forgetting how wank it is and end up there but I really need to stop.
I feel like my Asda has never had more staff.
For god’s sake won’t somebody think of the share holders.
“Less people through the door”
But it is not leadership fault….
“Let’s fire some store workers!”
And keep our large salaries and jobs intact.
Who didn’t see “cut to the bare bones, asset stripped, then dumped as a shall of itself/closed” in ASDAs future as soon as the Issa’s set their sights that way?
All these billionaires providing all the jobs to us ey?
Sorry but businesses of this scale should be mandated by government to keep a certain level of employment while able to pay dividends, have excessive profits or growth.
Treat it as an indirect tax if you like seeing as many of these massive companies find every way to avoid it.
You gotta invest money to make money. But Asda doesn’t seem to want to do that. I used to use the local one for years. But it now looks tired, old and bereft of any love. Plus there’s hardly any staff working there.
Dont reduce prices to entice new or returning customers, keep prices overly high and just sack 20% of your work force to save on wages.
[What about the rest of the year, Asda?](https://www.foodmanufacture.co.uk/Article/2024/04/22/Asda-grows-underlying-earnings-by-24/) Seems like they’re making plenty of profit.
I don’t do my food shop there, cause it’s so messy with empty shelves. I use Asda for clothes, toys, etc, maybe I’ll collect a food item if I’ve forgotten something, plus I find the stores too big, prefer Aldi, Lidl as I can do my shop in 20 minutes.
Didn’t the new owners deliberately load Asda with huge debts not long after they bought it???
I refuse to use ASDA because of their poor service, and bad quality home brands. Cutting back is not going to get more customers, just put more people off.
Asda is a faded shell of what it once was. Last time I went into the local store it was horrible, no staff, very poor lighting and empty shelves. It was dirty and dingy.
This is a store that used to turn over at least £1.3 million a week well over 20 years ago.
Not been back in since and don’t intend too. They’ve cut the services to the bone already, can’t imagine how it will survive with further staff cuts.
Oh no. The store that used to advertise itself as being the most for value is now nose diving into the ground due to their rapid price increases, poor treatment of staff and terrible quality products ever since those awful brothers purchased it to bleed it of all its worth to unsuccessfully convert them into national petrol stations, you’re telling me is no longer thriving? Oh no. Anyway.
They increased prices, decreased quality, cut back on cleaners, cut back on staff, and got rid of fresh in store bakeries in a lot of stores and replaced it with *checks notes* sushi takeaways? And they’re seeing a decrease in profits? Who da funk it?
Well, at least it wasn’t as bad as almost a decade ago.
