  1. Failing a PhD is pretty much impossible unless you are a complete fuckwit who doesn’t listen to your supervisors

Most people don’t fail, they just drop out after doing it for years and realising they are still miles off finishing…

  2. Sounds like this cretin has been pampered all his life and is used to getting what he wants. I can see this getting thrown out yet again, hopefully.

I mean, if everyone who failed their exam and screamed ‘disability prejudice’ then they might as well just hand the accolades out like leaflets. Sheesh, talk about entitled.

  3. If he has this much trouble being questioned, why does he want to be a barrister???

  4. He failed his oral submission. I would have thought good oral presentations are essential to be a barrister

  5. Oh, is that where we’re at now, I think I’ll sue something something someone for something

  6. Sounds pretty straightforward from what has been claimed. He has some form of disability that had some reasonable adjustments in how the interview should take place and these were not relayed to the interviewers who failed him. Kinda weird after saying this he goes on to claim that its not about adjustments, but that could just be the mails dodgy as fuck writing.

Would be quite surprised if he loses if that is true.

  7. I imagine, regardless of the outcome of this case, his name is now tarnished amongst the elite Law firms anyway?

Probably caused himself more harm than good

  9. To fail a PhD you have to either be thick as fuck or an absolute twat to be around. Supervisors and seniors will bend over backwards to help you because lots of failures reflects badly on them too. PhD is a time game more than a strictly brain game.

  10. “Revise and re-submit” is not failure. Failure would be rejection of his thesis without him being allowed to re-submit. Revise and re-submit is not at all unusual with Doctoral theses – lots of people don’t get it quite right on first submission. Also – if he needs “…specific rather than general questions, using the active, rather than the passive, voice and allowing him pauses and breaks after questions to allow him to ‘mentally retrieve the words or information that he needed in order to answer” then how on earth does he think he would cope in court as a barrister? “Do you have any more questions for this witness?” “Sorry m’lud, I need time to think about it before I answer you”. This guy is a Grade A wanker.

  11. This is the issue with degrees etc becoming commodities and students now being customers.

At UG level it’s pretty much “I’ve paid £27k for a degree – now give me what I’ve paid for..”

  12. Cambridge Uni could’ve trolled him hard by giving him a participation medal.

  13. “Personality disorders and entry barriers to the legal profession.

This thesis based on a personal case study will explore the limits to entry erected by the legal establishment and how they prevent the progress of those with various personality disorders. To put it simply enough for you plebs to comprehend: ‘Is it possible to be enough of a clueless cunt to miss out on a promised job offer as a barrister?’”

  14. He’s not actually disabled but suing his law school for failing him on a disability basis.

Just gonna skip the ob Best Lawyer Ever jokes and hate the fuck out of this rich asshole.

  15. I read the article but didn’t actually understand what his disability was?

  16. Just wait until he finds out the “substantial loss of anticipated earnings” you get when you sue your employer

  17. My wife did her viva at Cambridge couple of years ago, there were two examiners there too. At the end, she also got told she would not get the PhD at that time but she was free to resubmit.

So far so normal but she did, and she got it.

So I looked into the article, and seems like he’s suing based on disability discrimination and that the University failed to inform the examiners about the reasonable adjustments.

    This should be fun.
