On July 17, 2020, Princess Beatrice said “I do” to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor in an intimate ceremony with just 20 family and friends in attendance. Exactly four years later, the royal couple is taking a look back at that special day. In honor of their fourth wedding anniversary on July 17, 2024, Edo shared a heartfelt message to his wife and a never-before-seen photo from their wedding, which shows his bride in the ensemble she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth. Beatrice wore the same tiara the late monarch chose for her own wedding day—and while it was stunning, the headpiece brought back a stressful memory for the late monarch, reports The Mirror.

In the previously unseen snap, the bride and groom are standing outside in the middle of a grassy area, complete with lush trees. Surrounded by nature, the two appear to be holding hands and sharing a kiss. The following image shows the chapel where Beatrice and Edo tied the knot, with a floral installation framing the door. “Happy 4th wedding anniversary my love. 💍,” Edo wrote. “Every day is so special with you. I love you so much. 💕.”

While royal brides and grooms typically share a public peck on their wedding day, until now, no one has seen Beatrice and Edo’s kiss documented, according to People. In fact, there aren’t many images of the royal duo’s big day in general. Since their nuptials took place during the pandemic, in which large gatherings were prohibited, they invited only 20 people. “It was very private, intimate, and romantic,” a source told the outlet. “It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the queen was in attendance. They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health.”

Luckily, the late Queen Elizabeth II appeared to be in good health for her granddaughter’s wedding, so she was able to witness all of the tributes that the bride made to her. Beatrice donned a Norman Hartnell number with beaded embellishments and puff sleeves that was part of the former monarch’s collection. The late queen wore the piece on several occasions, such as the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square in 1962 and the State Opening of Parliament in 1966.

The late monarch also lent Beatrice the Queen Mary Fringe tiara, a diamond-studded headpiece that has been a family heirloom for centuries. Elizabeth also wore the crown at her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947—but just two hours before she was scheduled to walk down the aisle, the crown supposedly broke into two pieces, which caused her great distress, per The Mirror. Thankfully, the royal family jeweler brought the damaged design to his workshop, repaired the piece, and delivered it in time, so it was able to make an appearance for Elizabeth’s vow exchange. It looked beautiful on Beatrice—but what a stressful memory to relive on your granddaughter’s wedding day!
