I personally think this is one of the best things that happens in Belfast. Having a hard time in the head and this just clicked me right out of it.
It was very wholesome as a decent sized group of people had stopped to watch. Mostly wee old ladies.
Was the prefect evening for it and considering ghey had basically stopped coming back here for a few years it was amazing to see so many. It's a proper show how they all go under the bridge in groups and all these other wee of them groups keep joining from wherever they were at today. Was standing there a good 15 mins 20 mins.
(Apologies for the S22 camera, had to stick a wee filter on to make the birds stand out but I swear its 100X more amazing in person)

Fantastic to see – thanks for posting!
I like how they split off then they both realise oh shit we lost half the group then they both return
Always in the same area and always a pleasure to see after a day’s shift.
Them drones are fairly coming along these days.

Starling murmuration for those unaware!
Good stuff glad to see them back.
A truly mesmerising phenomenon of nature.
Thank god, the skies over belfast have been a little dead recently, lovely to see!
Ah the birds aren’t real mate! /s
I’ve lived on the mainland for 15 years now, this sub often gives me reasons to be glad I’m not there, sometimes it makes me miss home.
This is one of the strongest homesick feelings I’ve had with a post here.
Lovely.
And long may they continue
The LED lampposts they installed at the bench area on the far side were too bright and lighting the area under the bridge which disturbed their roosting. The council turned the lamps off and the birds are slowly returning
God I miss this! Thank you for posting. It’s made me slightly homesick.
The first time I saw this on east bridge I thought I was tripping I never knew birds did this
Starlings are [RSPB red listed](https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/starling) now, their numbers have plummeted 54% in 30 years, according to the RSPB and BTO. There’s a website where you can log a murmuration – [Starlings in the UK](https://www.starlingsintheuk.co.uk/submit-information.html), why don’t you do that..?
Used to love watching the starlings murmurate when we hung around the Waterfront as teenagers!
😍
My most favorite thing!
Magnificent murmuration amazes me.
Seen this if anyone has some kids that would love to see it 🙂

Absolutely majestic, just stopping for a while to look at this, awesome.
In the early 2000s Bangor had huge murmurations when the buildings on Queens parade were still standing. The marina had a tannoy system and a loud hailer to scare them away from roosting on the rigging on boats. more often than not it didn’t work and it would take someone to walk down the pontoons hitting the metal piles with a hammer. That person would often come back covered in shite but at least the boat owners were kept happy 😅
Thank you for this. Greetings from Finland ! Wish I could visit one day
Mad idea. what if there were telescopes along the path to view this better.
I see this everyday as I walk home from work around 4ish. Always puts things into perspective for me as I decompress from the working day.
Beautiful.
