Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the Central government to accord speedy Forest and Environment clearances to several projects proposed by his government.

Implementation of as many as 161 projects has been stalled pending clearances from the Forest department and the department should take steps to clear them so that the projects envisaging all round development of Telangana are not stalled. The Chief Minister, who is camping in New Delhi, called on Union Forests and Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Thursday.

He requested the Union Minister to give clearances pending under the Wildlife Protection Act to 38 projects. A majority of these projects were located in remote areas and those affected by the Left Wing Extremism. Works pertaining to development of national highways, erection of towers, PMGSY and other projects could not be taken up as the Centre had not accorded permission in these areas. The Chief Minister took to the notice of the Union Minister the issue of clearances pertaining to Gouravelli project and requested him to give approvals at the earliest. The Union Minister, according to an official release, responded positively to the requests made by the Chief Minister.
