RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster, has revealed additional details regarding the topics of the songs that will compete in EMA 2025.
The 12 artists that are set to compete in EMA 2025, the Slovenian selection adopted to choose a representative for Eurovision 2025, have finished filming the show EMA pred EMO (EMA before EMA). In the show, which will be hosted by Bernarda Žarn and Jože Robežnik, the EMA 2025 finalists will talk about their preparations for EMA.
While short snippets of all 12 songs will also be revealed, the artists had the occasion to speak to local media about the topics of their songs. Klemenās āHow Much Time Do We Have Left?ā talks about the feelings he experienced after his beloved was diagnosed with a serious illness and overcame it. He thinks āit is very important that we take our time, throw away what does not serve us, and follow what is valuable to us, because our time on this planet is limitedā.
July Jonesās message behind her entry āNew Religionā concerns being true to oneself, āthat I reflect on the outside what I am on the inside, that I am authentic and eccentricā.
Astrid & the ScandalsĀ consider āTouchĆ©ā their biggest hit so far. The singer described the song as a āfeminist punk stilettoā with cathartic lyrics that talk about a period in her life when she needed a lot of support while getting over a relationship.
Jon ViteziÄ will perform āVse ti damā (I give you everything), whose theme is love. āItās about a maybe toxic, not the healthiest relationshipā.
Eva Pavli used the metaphor of a spider for her āNitiā (Neither). āIf you dig a little deeper, the song is not so obviousā, explained the singer, pointing to the fact that if we do not resolve our own problems, we get caught in them like āsome invisible threads with which a spider ensnares its prey. And that can destroy usā.
RAIāsĀ entry āFrederickās deadā depicts āa chaotic state of the worldā.
ANNA describer her act āÄauā (Bye) as āenergetic, itās for all those who would say āCiaoā to someone ā sometimes we have people in our lives who just need to be toldā.
With āGraceā, Trine returns on the topic of love. More specifically, āitās about teenage love and how itās normal for people to be jealous and compare themselves, but in the end, you always have to be who you are and not compare yourself to othersā.
KiKiĀ confessed that she watched dozens of clips from past song contests, and got the inspiration for her āO-ou!ā from how she thought she would perform at EMA. āThe song is about my attitude towards performingā, she explained.
Žan Videc said that āPusti da goriā (Let it burn) is different from the material he has released to date, and that it is āabout hot sparksā.
PolarAceĀ stresses the importance of kindness with his āKindā. āI had a chorus that had a really nice message, and I thought it was good to get it out to the wider publicā, he added.
Finally,Ā ZveNās entry āDivjaā (Wild) features old ways of singing, as well as the oldest musical instrument in the world, the Divje Babe Flute or tidldibab. āItās an interweaving of ancient cultures in todayās era, and thatās where Iām looking for archetypes of different women. Itās not just about ritual ways of singing, [ā¦] this song for me also represents the power of a woman during childbirth ā thatās when she becomes wildā, concluded the singer.
