The man, born in 1980, was involved in the illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the territory of Riga, using the services of parcel machines.
A total of 1.5 kilograms of protonitazene concentrate or “shora”, which can be used to make even larger quantities of the narcotic substance, 596.535 grams of O-desmethyl-tramadol, two firearm-like objects, two mobile phones, cartridges, 47.5 tablets of clonazepam and 5 grams of amphetamine were seized during three searches.
The protonitazene concentrate could be used to make about 10 kilograms of protonitazene, which would be about 100,000 doses.
The black market value of protonitazene is around €100 per gram. The black market value of 10 kilograms of protonitazene is €1,000,000.
The arrested man has previous convictions for similar offenses. On January 9 he was remanded in custody.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 253.1(3) of the Criminal Law, i.e. for the illicit manufacture, acquisition, possession, transport, and transfer of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of realization and illicit realization in a large amount.
Such an offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to fifteen years, with or without confiscation of property, and probation supervision for a term of up to three years.
