Environment Ministry of Mongolia awarded by Wild Sheep Foundation

AKIPRESS.COM – The Wild Sheep Foundation hosted an exhibition dedicated to argali conservation and international cooperation in Reno, USA, on January 16.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia and the Mongolian Zoological Association were awarded the Statesman Awards.

The award was presented to Head of the Natural Resources Policy Implementation Department Uranchimeg Tserendorj, and Head of the International Cooperation Department  Enkhtaivan Urcheen of the Ministry, as well as Chairman of the Mongolian Zoological Association Samyaa Ravdan, and members of the Board of Governors of the Association.

“Mongolia’s efforts have set a global standard. The country has implemented participatory natural resource management, working effectively to protect natural resources and restore wildlife in the mountains,” Wild Sheep Foundation President Gray Thornton said. He emphasized that this award is given to Mongolia, which is making an important contribution to the Wild Sheep Foundation’s main goal – the conservation and reintroduction of wild sheep to the mountains.

The US-based Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) was founded in 1977. This international organization with a 47-year history works on conservation, research and sustainable use of wild sheep populations.
