On Monday, members of the National Cultural Diversity Awareness Council and the British Consulate came together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.The “Keeping the Dream Alive” event, hosted at the Hilton DoubleTree in Nashua, featured a keynote speech from David Clay, the British Consul General to New England. Clay said King’s legacy extended far beyond the United States.”He had a huge impact in the UK. He visited four times. There’s a statue of him in Westminster Abbey,” Clay said. “I think his example, his leadership, and his message, I think, really inspired a generation of activists in the UK.”In addition to Clay’s speech, Gov. Kelly Ayotte also spoke about her plans to improve the state’s economy and development.Organizers said proceeds from the dinner will go toward funding the National Cultural Diversity Awareness Council’s “Keeping the Dream Alive” youth diversity workshops and programs.
