I am surprised, very surprised.
I don’t blame Harry for settling except for the fact he publicly criticized his brother for doing it. He insinuated his brother was being paid off to keep his mouth shut. His fans called it hush money instead of the private settlement which thousands of other people had done. I am glad that this is over and he’s not going to come back to UK. He dragged this case with a lot of self righteous posturing, claiming to be morally superior and a dragon slayer. Only for him to settle in the end like others
It’s too bad. But the explanation that Hugh Grant provided a few months’ back about how the papers’ deep pockets combined with the court process in the UK make it financially impossible to continue all the way through litigation was a warning that Harry might not be able to outrun a high settlement offer either. There’s a lot of care to be taken because of free speech concerns, but seems to me there are necessary reforms in the judicial system needed to permit plaintiffs to get their day in court without being billionaires.
Admission of guilt, of wrongdoing and apologies to boot??? Love how they blamed it on the Private Investigators though.
Bet Rehaber Kooks, Andy Coulson, Victoria Newton and Will Lewis can breathe easy now.
Over 1300 claimants and £1B paid out in settlements for a group of people who claimed to have done nowt wrong seems very damning.
I hope Smartmatic takes them to the woodshed.

Yeah…. After yesterday this seemed like the expected outcome. I wonder how this is gonna play in the media after Harry’s earlier grandstanding. He made a big deal out of being a dragon slayer and then just settled like everyone else.
How could Harry do this to me? I wanted to see if any scandalous tea was going to be exposed as evidence in the trial! 😢

This was the only possible outcome. The damages afforded by the court could never match the offered Murdoch settlement.

Got a public apology not only for himself but for his mother for what they did. I’m sure that part alone will bring him peace.
Rupert and his tabloids knew to settle and this just proves to me there was something very sinister they didn’t want to be exposed in court.
