Researchers from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, have predicted that global sea levels could rise by a staggering 6.2ft (1.9 metres) by 2100 if carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions continue to increase. Time to move the caravan and relocate the arcade stores one researcher from Singapore has suggested the Titanic Museum will be under water soon. I worked on ground investigation for sea defences north of Eglinton near Derry a few years ago where they were going to pay to defend it for political reasons despite the fact sea water was rising through the ground so a Dyke wouldn’t work unless we went full Holland. I couldn’t help but imagine king Cnut trying to hold back the sea in my head.

    So the sea level rises are terrible and the governments mitigation plans are dire too if your hoping there competence might save homes or infrastructure.

  23. What’s the craic with all the reclaimed land at the docks and around the airport being so varied in where it is and isn’t affected? Isn’t it all uniformly above sea level, right from the edge?

  25. Most is reclaimed, took family / visitors on a, walking tour and I think it was mentioned boats used to come up High Street to approx where Whites tavern is and definitely aircraft factories and airport is reclaimed
