Passengers will be able to use the tickets for a limited period of time from the moment of registration on trains or in “Rīgas Satiksme” vehicles. They will be available on the passenger train (Vivi) app, but could also be provided by any other operator, such as Mobilly, bezrindas.lv and others.
The pilot project will cover only part of the Rīga region, but could be extended later.
The single ticket could provisionally be available from June 1 this year.
Vivi estimates that the number of passengers using both the train and Rīgas Satiksme services is 38,000 per month.
To ensure the implementation of the single ticket, €47,000 is needed this year for the development of the solution, technical support, and publicity. The Ministry of Transport will provide this money by reallocating existing funds from its budget.
