The total damage caused to the producers of the original goods exceeds €130,000, the VID said.
In December last year, officials of the Riga Freeport customs control point inspected a shipment from the United Arab Emirates destined for a consignee in Lithuania and found that the container contained perfumery products with possibly counterfeit trademarks.
Customs officials contacted the representatives of the trademark holders concerned, who confirmed in January this year that the goods infringed the intellectual property rights of six companies and should be destroyed.
As a result of the customs controls, 1,392 units of perfumes and deodorants bearing imitations of popular trademarks such as Allure, Arpege, Baccarat, Black Opium, Hello, Bombschell!, Mancera, as well as Victoria’s Secret graphic trademark, were seized.
In 2024, 114 cases of counterfeit goods were detected as a result of controls carried out by the VID Customs Administration on cargo and consignments. The most frequent items found last year were footwear, phone cases and covers, and perfumery with counterfeit trademarks.
