Severe Controversy within Iran’s Regime over Negotiations with The United States
The religious fascism governing Iran, following a series of strategic defeats in the region, now finds itself in a position of extreme vulnerability and fear in the face of economic, social, and political crises at home.
Regarding this, on January 23, Reuters reported that the recent stance of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on the surrender and retreat of the regime without encountering military attacks on its nuclear facilities has created a new situation.
This issue had been debated among regime factions even before Trump took office. The so-called reformist faction glorified negotiations with the U.S. over the nuclear deal.
On January 21, the state-run Shargh newspaper quoted politician and economist Mohammad Salamati, as saying: “Since Trump is a businessman, he considers profit and loss and knows this is not the time to reap maximum benefits from maximum pressure. Iran is an 80-million-strong market with regional influence.”
A Prudent Iran Policy Requires USA to Listen to Voices of Iranian People
In dealing with a dictatorship, it is prudent to listen to its critics. This is doubly true if that dictatorship is like the ruling theocracy in Iran, the main state sponsor of terrorism in the world. A dictatorship that is rushing to acquire nuclear weapons. Ethnic Iranian activists from various countries will gather in France on February 8 to mark the 46th anniversary of the revolution that deposed Iran’s repressive monarchy before being co-opted by Islamic theocrats, replacing one form of dictatorship with another. The event, led by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, will be defined by the slogan: “Onward to a democratic republic. No to monarchy; no to theocracy.”

Iran Bars Female Political Prisoners in Evin from Visitation After Protesting Transfer of Death Row Inmates
A group of female political prisoners in the women’s ward of Evin Prison, located in Tehran, Iran’s capital, have been barred from receiving visitors after staging a sit-in and chanting anti-regime slogans.
Their protest was in response to the transfer of two political prisoners sentenced to death, Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, a city west of Tehran known for housing Iran’s largest execution facility.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Hedayatollah Farzadi, the warden of Evin Prison, informed the women that they were being punished for their protest and that, starting Sunday, February 2, they would be denied all visitations—both in-person and behind glass—for three weeks.
