Five years on: Brexit regrets? Cancelled trips? • FRANCE 24 English

In this edition of Entre Nous, we take a look at how British people feel about Brexit, five years after the UK officially left the EU. We also discuss the challenges many Brits abroad now face, particularly those with second homes. Finally, we get to the bottom of the many reasons why Europeans are choosing not to make trips to the UK, but the Brits are still coming to Europe.

  1. Ah come on. Us Brits love the increased prices, the extra paperwork, the fact that all our European workers in the Health & catering industry etc have left. We also love the extra barriers to travel in the E.U., the long queues at immigration etc. The best bit is that it’s much harder for us Brits to go & live in the sunshine in Spain etc. And we’ve called a halt to immigration to our shores!!

  2. Never forget it's thanks to BORIS JOHNSON that the BREXIT DEAL was signed!
It's BORIS JOHNSON we need to turn towards for this incredible achievement.
And BORIS JOHNSON name will always be directly connected to BREXIT no matter what he does from now on.
BORIS JOHNSON…. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

  3. Look what the liberal government has done since, they have been just as bad as the EU and worse on immigration that fueled Brexit

  4. As someone who voted Remain, I despair how our Labour Givenment talks about growth but remains silent about how much poorer Brexit costs us🙁🙁

  5. The EU is much better off without whinging, whining UK, and that is what's important, not the xenophobic insular delusions of the British Inbreds.

  6. Isolationism now more than ever isn’t a smart ideia 💡! Being proudly alone in the middle of the Atlantic neither … Keep running after USA begging for a trade agreement with no results is a bit disappointing! So some brits may keep dreaming about the marvelous of Brexit but facts are undeniable unfortunately! It was indeed a masterclass & a study case of political manipulation!

  7. Thank you, but where can I find these polls please?? I checked on the website and the article of this video but I can't find any source. Please link the sources!! Thanks in advance.

  8. A new runway at Heathrow is not expected for at least 10 years, and as with everything in Britain, you can easily add another five years and a doubling of the construction costs.

  9. I don't believe it. Most Brits support Brexit. The UK is better, richer, stronger and happier today than it was before. If they could vote again, 100% would vote for Brexit.

  10. Yeah that brain drain issue has always been a problem, or perceived one. Any nationality, any race. If people can just get on with their lives and be productive without obsessing in any way shape, or form about what the other side is doing, that would help.

  11. Not an honest segment. The UK has outperformed both France and Germany by a wide margin since Brexit. Here are the numbers:

    UK 2019: 42.71k
    UK 2024: 52.42k
    Overall Growth: 9.71k
    Percent Growth: 22.7%

    France 2019: 41.83k
    France 2024: 48.01k
    Overall Growth: 6.18k
    Percent Growth: 14.8%

    Germany 2019: 47.63k
    Germany 2024: 55.52k
    Overall Growth: 7.91k
    Percent Growth: 16.6%

  12. I feel empathy for Scotland, I hope they can find a way back. Englands love of right wing grifters increases by the day and shows little sign of stopping.

  13. As an EU citizen I believe UK should stay out of EU because "great times" to be out of EU are coming – tariffs from US, economic wars, wars etc (I am being sarcastic, in case it is not obvious). Having a zero GDP growth more or less, and increasing debt-to-GDP in the last 5 years, in given condition is great especially when you trying to deal with US (27T GDP), China and EU 17T. UK at 3T GDP alone, is in the 2nd economic league and it should manage its expectation based on it. The only country I believe should ask for independence and ask to join EU asap is Scotland. It would be great to have Scotland in EU once again.

  14. Rejecting European ID cards is as dumb as it could possibly get! It was a unilateral decision that does nothing but impact the UK tourist industry and the fact that the Labour government has not reversed it speaks volumes for their supposed attempt at resetting their relationship with the EU. Actions speak louder than words.

  15. EU is on the brink of collapse also! The problem with the Brits is the mentality in slow motion! Nothing gets done anymore in Britain!

  16. I wonder if all the examples of how bad brexit has been makes any difference to the 30% who still thinks it was good and what exactly was good in their broken brains besides their personal prejudice.

  17. This is what happens when cattle decide the country, as the Germans said after World War II.

A referendum in a situation where 60% of every society is unable to correctly perceive the spoken and written word is probably fun.

The scum of society has traditionally messed up what is good over and over in history and after a few years screams that it's politicians, powerful people and the like.

  18. Please remember…the vote was very close. And many of those that voted were lied to.
Those of us that see ourselves as Europeans are still upset at the result.
I would happily vote for a return to the EU, with full membership including the Euro..

  19. Friends of mine abroad in the EU in Ireland and Lithuania have told me the UK made the right decision and their countries have gone downhill under EU membership. They don't like red tape, the political union and the fact their countries don't have control over how their country's future is shaped. I don't believe UK could ever have improved its situation straight away, when the pandemic, energy crisis, and Ukraine war all occurred in very close proximity and similtaneously for most of that period.

  20. The E.U. is just like the U.S. now with passports. Only 40% of Americans have passports. There is a simple reason. Why leave an area/continent where there is free travel all over? Getting passports are for those ‘special’ trips. Yes, Europe is different, but that seems to be the general mindset.

  21. The population in the UK fell for a trap regarding the E.U.Scotland is part of the UK so forget about that dream it won't happen.
