Winds will also be mostly slow and from the east and southeast.

Air temperatures will drop to -5 C to 0 degrees overnight on Saturday, but Sunday night will be colder with minimum temperatures of -8 C to-3 C, around freezing in places along the coast. On weekend afternoons, the air will warm up to -3 C to +2 C.

Next week, there will be a slight frost at night, with some nights around -10 C in the east of the country, while daytime temperatures will be mostly in the -4 C to +1 C range.

There is no snow cover in western and central Latvia, so expect hoarfrost in these regions.

Lakes and stretches of rivers will start to freeze over but it will be dangerous to step on the ice.
