Vivi said that the passenger train connection between Vilnius, Rīga, and Tallinn, which opened early this year, will now only have a transfer in Valga, not in Rīga and Valga as before.

Passenger services from Rīga to Valga and back will be provided with a modern diesel train PESA 730 ML leased from the Lithuanian carrier LTG Link, which will make the transport more comfortable for passengers and reduce the number of transfers, keeping the transfers only in Valga.

“Thanks to the close cooperation with our Baltic partners, at the beginning of the year we jointly took a major step towards cross-border mobility by establishing a fully-fledged train connection between Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. […] As part of the improvement of the connection, the ticket price for journeys on certain sections has also been reduced,” said Raitis Nešpors, Chairman of the Board of Pasažieru vilciens JSC (Vivi).

Additional weekday services will be introduced as of February 10.

Also, as of February 10, a single international transit ticket has been introduced for journeys involving more than one carrier. For single-carrier journeys, tickets will only be available on the ticketing system of the carrier and third-party partners selling those tickets. The single transit tickets are currently available via the Lithuanian carrier LTG Link’s digital sales channels – website, mobile app and Google Maps platform and will soon also be available on the Estonian carrier Elron’s e-ticketing platforms.
