Bauwerk Group Hrvatska, a premium parquet manufacturer, and E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions (E.ON EIS), part of E.ON Croatia, have built a large biomass cogeneration plant in Đurđevac.

After more than 18 months of intensive work, the 12-million-euro project has reached the mechanical completion stage. The planning, construction and testing were carried out by E.ON experts, and further works have been entrusted to the Italian company Amarc, specializing in district heating power plants.

Wood chips, a byproduct of Bauwerk’s parquet production, will be used on-site as raw material for the plant. Approximately 70 tons of it will be burned daily, generating about 1.1 megawatts (MW) of electricity and six MW of thermal energy – enough to power around 2,300 households for a year.

This approach ensures stability amid fluctuating energy prices and eliminates the need for additional energy sources.

The plant is also the largest investment of the E.ON Group in Croatia to date. It will be managed under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for seven years after commissioning.
