  1. Key part in the BBC link….(it’s a long article)

“However, Labour’s imminent victory in last summer’s general election prompted a post on a private Facebook group for former HBOS employees that BBC News has seen asking if anyone remembered Reeves.

One former employee replied: **”the expenses dept certainly do!”**

Several others made reference to Reeves being investigated over her expenses spending.

BBC News has been seeking the truth behind these suggestions, speaking to more than 20 people, many of whom were former colleagues, and gaining access to receipts, emails and other documents.

We have learnt that there was an expenses investigation into Reeves and two other senior managers.

A detailed six-page whistleblowing complaint and dozens of pages of attached evidence, which we have seen, **raised concerns that the three managers were using the bank’s money to “fund a lifestyle” with allegedly inappropriate spending on dinners, events, taxis and gifts, including for each other.**“

  2. Okay. I think we can all agree that corruption is not a good look, but…

Where the fuck was all this investigative journalism and “deep dives” when the tories were presiding over massive PPE corruption, tax dodging chancellors, and… well, Boris Fucking Johnson, Suella Braverman, and the rest of the shower of shit?

I’ve seen more articles targeting Reeves on “ex-colleague from 15 years ago says…” than there were for any of the corrupt fuckers in the tory government.

I’m not a particular fan of the current Labour Party as they seem to have decided to implement the exact same policies as the tories, just with hopefully *slightly* less incompetence and corruption, but the pro-tory bias from the vast majority of the press isn’t even trying to be subtle about their smear attempts.

  3. This would have been nice to see happening at some point in the last 14 years

  4. Wait a second! The private sector waste money on lavish and unnecessary expenses? I don’t believe it, every comparison between private and public sector from the UK press had told me that they were grindingly efficient.

  5. >In 2015, it emerged that she was among 19 MPs who had had their official credit cards suspended by the parliamentary expenses watchdog after failing to show their spending was valid.

‘Rachel from accounts’ is a worthy title.

  6. Wow, going through her expenses from when she was at HBOS? They REALLY want to get her. Makes me think her budget might be doing something right after all.

  7. I’m all for this but let’s just flake over this massive gaping hole of 15years that people have just blindfolded themselves and accepted “well they embezzled the cash and we won’t get it back” so let’s go for who will be popular to bring down now.

  8. I took the piss a bit with my company expenses in my early 20s too, hey ho.

  9. The ball of twine is unraveling to reveal a flat razor sharp barb wire attached to it😱

  10. Who cares, all politicians are fabricators and snake oil salesmen. The only person qualified and experienced enough for the job of chancellor was sunak…and the peter principle led him to no. 10 and his downfall. She is out of her depth and Will be out before long.

  11. Funny how the BBC have suddenly rediscovered their ability to do investigative journalism and hold truth to power after 14 years.

    Good for them.

  12. Where were the BBC when the Torries cancelled all existing PPE contracts so they could borrow billions and give contracts to their mates instead. Oh but they are investigating how Rachel claimed lunch as an expense when she was with 2hours of her normal place of work.

  13. When people are this eager to “get you”, you’re either corrupt as fuck, or you’re pushing the right buttons. I hope it’s the latter, because this feels like a whole lot of nothing considering how shitty the banking sector was back then.

  14. I thought it was pretty obvious why she left the job when the first revelations about the lies on her CV came out.

I guess journalists needed to spell it out for those who refused to understand.

Much like they had to keep pushing about Louise Haigh when useful idiots were spamming the idea she just lost her phone and nothing more serious happened.

  15. Good, our government needs investigating like what is happening in the US right now.

  16. Reddit’s reaction: “but the Tories the Tories the Tories…and the BBC is right-wing biased”.

    Classic.

  17. Great… so where was all this exhaustive investigative work during the last 14 years when the Tories were fucking fleecing us and lining their own and their mate’s pockets?

  18. Just listen to this diversion tactic… Country and pound down, taxed to the t!ts, jobs obliterated, High streets decimated, doctors underpaid… Then expenses article comes out…. Like who cares about 50p on the wrong expense code from 10 years ago.

  19. Didn’t our previous prime ministers wife was outed as tax dodger when he was…. Well in exact same government position?

Fuck bbc. If anyone still pays tv licence for this shit, wake up. Clearly they have enough funding from hit peace orders.

  20. Being bought a bottle of £50 wine by your boss as an xmas present and a leaving do worth £400 is hardly corruption. Talk about scraping the barrel.

The press really has it in for Reeves.

Where was all this investigative journalism when the Tories were awarding 100s of millions of pounds in PPE contracts to their mates. PPE which turned out to be unfit for use. Or the £37 billion that was pissed up the wall on Track and Trace.

  21. Where was this enthusiasm when the tories had us all goofed for 14 years?

    Hit job media

  22. Yano, this happens on all sides, i remember a tory mp once saying as soon as he was nominated, his friends and family started to get harrased for any information, journalists going to old workplaces….its horrible tbh and its shame as it can put people off trying to become mps

  23. What is this, kick Reeves day?

Bit of unexpected economic growth this morning. Quick, kick her!
