And he gives his whole MP salary to charity. How many MPs do that?
Good for him
This belongs in r/slownewsday
Just because the party is against net zero (not a stance I agree with btw), doesn’t mean they’re against all renewables full stop.
Of course it’s a farm too
And he is making the most of a situation…….. What’s the point to the post
Do as I say, not as I do. Nothing to see here.
Despite the almost constant hypocrisy of “Reform UK”, Labour is STILL staggeringly incapable of calling out their bullshit.
He’s a fucking moron
Such an empty story. Most people want solar panels to reduce reliance on the national grid.
Why is this news? Lol
Whether or not they’re green they still reduce cost. It’s hardly a gotcha. People who support vat increase on booze will still buy it cheap if they can
Given Nigel team off to get his European passport post Brexit not really surprised
Total non story
Reform’s website states:
**We recognize that the availability of energy resources (i.e., renewables, carbon-based, and nuclear) varies throughout the country. Energy can be derived from diverse sources and made available to meet the demands of all locations in the country.**
The MP says in this article “**Clean energy is incredibly important, but it should be generated in a responsible way that does not bankrupt the country and deindustrialise our economy”**
The article mentions Richard Tice stating they would impose a windfall tax on renewables to offset the negative economic effects of Net Zero. One can argue about that but it doesn’t preclude the use of solar panels on a building at all. And he warns farmers that if their LAND is used for solar instead of food production, the land won’t be treated as farming land in terms of inheritance tax relief.
Also, doesn’t even look like he owns the farm as such anyway? The article says he as a 15% share in the company that owns the farm, no?
Seems to me that this story, being pushed here is little more than “I was incorrectly under the impression Reform were going to ban solar panels on house roofs and yet here is an MP doing that”….which would be a story of hypocrisy.
I wonder did he get a UK govt or EU grant for installing them
he’s gone woke I see
Having a few solar panels to reduce your bill is smart. Making the UK energy grid reliant on solar power is dumb. Reform are smart. Labour is dumb.
They’re explicitly against solar farms though so it is pretty funny
A guy who has been a banker his whole life.
Reform UK fighting for the working man, isn’t it?
