The third artist in our Who Is series for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is Laura Thorn from Luxembourg.

Laura started getting involved in music at the age of five. She is trained in music theory, piano, cello, keyboard, chamber music and dance and performed at various concerts and competitions. She completed her studies with a master’s degree in music theory, music pedagogy, and pop singing, from IMEP in Namur in Belgium. She currently works as a teacher at the Conservatory of Music in Esch-sur-Alzette in southwestern Luxembourg.

Laura was selected as the Luxembourgish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 after winning the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025. She finished first in the international jury vote and second in the public vote.

The song that Laura will perform in Basel is called “La poupée monte le son” (The doll turns up the volume). It was written and composed by Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal. The song is a reference to “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”, the song with which France Gall won Eurovision 1965 for Luxembourg.

We caught up with Laura before she performed at the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025:

Laura will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on May 15.

Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest

Luxembourg was one of seven countries to take part in the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Luxembourg participated in the contest 37 times before withdrawing from the contest after 1993. During these 37 years, they won the contest five times, the last of these victories came in 1983. Luxembourg came close to returning to the contest in 2004, however, opted against it due to the financial cost of participating. They eventually returned in 2024, after an absence of 31 years.
