Pelham Turner, who is a British broadcaster, covered Charles‘ coronation in 2023 and described the experience.

The royal expert said: “I remember the other guys saying, ‘Charles is going to be a great king,’ and all this other stuff, but when they all come off the air, they all say, ‘The reality is, he can’t make a decision to save his life.’”

He added:“When I look at what’s been going on at the moment, I don’t agree with everything Harry and Meghan have done, I think they’ve been badly advised in some areas, as well, but then I look at that they weren’t allowed to be half in/half out, so called, the reality is, most of the Royal Families in Europe are that method.”

Pelham Turner turned his attention to other countries and their monarchies to support his argument.

He said: “It’s a modern-day method, you look at Sweden, you look at Holland, most of the Royal Families are allowed to work. They still do their royal duties, but they are also allowed to work.”

He added: “So when this kind of thing started to happen with Harry and Meghan, I thought, ‘Where’s the problem?’”

Pelham Turner concluded: “Basically, they wanted to come off the royal purse and they wanted to make their own money and they’d still do royal duties, that was the style of living they wanted to do and they could have become GREAT ambassadors for America.”

It’s not to say it still can’t happen, that Harry and Meghan can be US ambassadors for the uK, but according to Pelham Turner, Charles would have to step in and make the call rather than let William, nor the Palace, drive the narrative.
