  1. Can any of these governments do anything properly? They’re paying the costs in arrears and only giving £500 for setup costs! Schools budgets are tight enough already! Where are they supposed to find extra money from?

  2. Amazes me this stuff is up for debate. I can’t imagine many tax payers having issue with children getting free school meals and carton of milk in primary school like we used to. The downstream impacts this would resolve surely pays for itself and adds a safety net to those poor little buggers that have useless or neglectful parents

  3. How can’t you feed pupils for 60p? Batch make healthy meals and get ingredients direct/from wholesalers/from cheaper supermarkets even.
Edit: let’s say you need to feed 20 students for £12.
1kg bag of porridge for £2.
    10 fresh bananas for £2.
Honey that can be used across all – £1.
    That’s £5 for 20 breakfasts.
You could get some cheap loafs of bread at like £0.50 each, four of those for toast. Cheap butter is like £1.

Edit: thanks for pointing out it’s not just the food costs, its also staff, facilities, energy, etc.

  4. Yeah, you can. Youll be buying in bulk from wholesalers, and its breakfast so hardly the largest meal or lot of ingredients. Are you saying you cant make a vat if porridge or toast or some cheap sausages within that cost? Ive just tried to look up the Daily Messing Rate for the forces which shows how much each meal costs to provide but can find a recent one, but thats based on 3000 cal a day and a great big fry up. Used to be somewhere around this and provided more food than you could eat as an adult.

  5. 1 cup of milk, a banana or apple, and a slice of bread or digestive biscuit won’t cost more than 40p. It is just they don’t want to do it.

  6. Should tie school and health budgets to be proportional to politician budgets and pay politicians exactly the average of all other government workers

  7. Schools locally do bagels, and cereals and milk. Difficult to see how that comes to more than 60p.

  8. Yet the MPs who get vast sums of money Todo their jobs get their meals and pubs subsidised

  9. 🤣🤣🤣 Labour are a shambles. Are they trying to match or out do the Tories 14 years of bullshit 🤔

  10. Politicians live in a dream world they all have so much money in expenses, wages, and bribes. Sorry, donations and gifts consultation work and second jobs 😉 that they don’t have a clue about the real world and ordinary people and they don’t care or want to help us in any way at all we are like sheep to be fleeced by the richest of society and dodgy government contract deals.

  11. I think the problem is you have to staff this too – so you may be able to provide breakfast for 60p but not someone to prepare it or to supervise the children eating it

  12. I have toast yogurt and cereal for less than 60p a day
