Shame that UK councils ended up like this. Thanks to us having to bail out the banks who caused the 2008 financial crisis.
We need a Trump style investigation into our Government.
No audit commission just private firms, who have no ability to point out financial mismanagement as not in their interests to not get repeat contracts

Why can’t councils join together and share admin costs/ project costs . Instead of duplicating work per council
Need to do the same in the NHS
Maybe I imagined this but Yorkshire had a centralised council that did some good stuff like subsidised bus fares. You could go ANYWHERE in South Yorkshire for 2p as a kid or 5p as an adult. That carried on into the 90s but rose to 5 and 10p.
