Strains appeared in December, when the alliance failed to agree on a candidate for the top job at the Baltic nation’s central bank. The term of Governor Martins Kazaks was allowed to expire, before he was eventually given five more years this month.

Silina said Friday that the ministers of education, transport and welfare, each representing one coalition party, would be replaced. The premier also laid out four priority areas for the government: security, support for families, boosting the economy and cutting bureaucracy.
A vote of confirmation for the new ministers could take place as early as Feb. 27, the prime minister told reporters in the capital, Riga.
