A company has been ordered to refund a woman who paid €856 for four tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert in Malta, only to find herself sitting in the back row rather than the advertised location.
Karen Zammit took her case to the Consumer Tribunal, demanding a refund from ticket platform Shows Happening after discovering that her seats did not match the description provided at the time of purchase.
She argued that the tickets were advertised as being in the middle of the concert area, but upon arriving at the venue in June last year, she found herself seated at the very back. “If I had known where the seats really were, we would have stayed home,” she complained.
Zammit also criticised the lack of logistical planning, particularly regarding transport arrangements for the event.
Shows Happening did not respond to her claims, and the Tribunal partially upheld her request, ordering the company to refund €656 of the total amount paid.
The case was presided over by Arbitrator Michela Spiteri.
Editorial note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Shows Happening was the event organiser when it was the platform through which event tickets were sold. The company also informed Newsbook Malta that it has appealed the decision in court.
