In the annual trust survey from Mediaakademien, a Swedish non-government organisation that monitors how the media impacts society, a selection of 2,509 people were asked “which of the following international leaders, in general, do you have the greatest confidence or trust in?”.

Fully 50 percent said they have either “quite a lot of”, or “very great” confidence in Frederiksen, just behind Zelensky on 53 percent.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ranked third with 37 percent of respondents expressing trust in her and France’s President Emmanuel Macron ranked fourth with the trust of 23 percent of respondents.

Swedes had almost identically high level of trust for Frederiksen regardless on where they stood politically, with 53 percent of those describing themselves as “somewhat to the right” and 43 percent of those “solidly on the right” expressing trust in her leadership, compared to 52 percent and 45 percent for the same positions on the left.

Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan shared sixth place with 93 percent recognition.
