A serious collision between a Luxembourg bus and a car in Germany’s Eifel region on Tuesday left the bus driver injured and the motorist fighting for their life.
A severe collision between a Luxembourg bus and a car occurred in the German Eifel region on Tuesday afternoon, leaving the bus driver seriously injured and the motorist in life-threatening condition. According to preliminary reports, the collision is believed to have followed a failed overtaking manoeuvre by the car.
The accident took place on the national road 50 between Bitburg-Stahl and Oberweis, with both vehicles eventually coming to a halt in a roadside ditch.
According to reports from DPA, two further people, seated in the car at the time of the crash, also sustained minor injuries. Emergency services deployed to the scene included a helicopter from the Luxembourg Air Rescue, which helped rush the motorist to a hospital.
The road was closed off after the accident and the Trier prosecutor’s office has since ordered an investigation.
