A Norfolk pub where Prince William famously enjoyed a pint and a bowl of chips has been added to the Good Food Guide.

The Rose and Crown in Snettisham is no stranger to the esteemed hospitality recommendation list.

It has featured in the past and won several affiliated awards such as The Good Pub Guide’s County Dining Pub of the Year and The Good Hotel Guide’s Editor’s Choice for Pubs with Rooms.

“It’s near Snettisham’s church and was built about the same time, a 14th-century whitewashed beauty with two gorgeous old bars (all beams, open fires, real ales and general cosiness) and a large, light dining room extension – its beachside vibe helped by part-panelled walls and wooden rafters hung with fairy lights.

“Outside in the enclosed garden, the theme continues with new beach-hut bars joining the established children’s play area.

“The seasonal menu of modern pub food also has a seaside accent (Brancaster mussels is a ‘signature’ in cooler months), boosted by specials and ‘classics’ such as burgers, curries and steaks.”

Jeannette Goodrich, who runs the pub with her husband Anthony, said she was “delighted” to make it back into the guide.

“We love food at The Rose and Crown and are very proud of what we offer our customers,” she said.

“To be listed in the in this prestigious publication is a great credit to our tremendous team in the kitchen and also reflects the hard work that our front of house staff do in keeping The R&C the special place it has always been.”
