Thursday will still be windy, with westerly winds gusting to 15-18 meters per second in many places. There will be some rain in the east of the country overnight, before clearing from the west during the day. The sun will shine in Kurzeme in the morning, but by the evening the sky will have cleared over most of Latvia.

Air temperatures will not drop below +4 C to +7 C at night on Thursday and will reach +9 C to +13 C during the day, with cooler temperatures around +7 C on the coast.

No precipitation is expected over the weekend and winds will die down, so fog will form at night and in the mornings in many places.

Minimum temperatures will be 0-5 C at night and 7-12 C during the day, rising to 13-15 C in parts of Kurzeme, Zemgale and the Rīga area.

These days will see heat records, because, for example, on March 7 the highest temperature ever recorded in Latvia is exactly 12 degrees in 1920.

Warm weather will continue into early next week, but from mid-week onwards it will become much colder, with snow and frost at night, and a snow layer in parts of Latvia.
