Princess Eugenie was stunning in an olive green gown as she attended the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor and former school friend Olivia Henson today.
The Duke of York’s daughter was among the 400 guests who gathered in Cheshire today for the stunning ceremony at Chester Cathedral. Eugenie, like Kate Middleton and Olivia Henson, attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire, a school that has become something of a royal honeypot over the years. Eugenie was among a number of old school friends – known as ‘Marlburians’ – who were seen arriving for the wedding of Grosvenor in Cheshire. The royal mother-of-two was spotted enjoying some pre-wedding drinks with other guests at the Grosvenor hotel bar last night.
Princess Eugenie opted for a pretty green dress as she arrived at the church ahead of the ceremony, sweeping her hair into a bouncy blow-dry for the occasion. The royal added a touch of glamour to her outfit with a white fascinator and could be seen chatting with Lady Violet Vestey.
Prince William was among the other royal guests at the event this afternoon. The Prince of Wales acted as usher for his good friend the Duke of Westminster, welcoming guests among the Norman cathedral’s vaulted ceilings. Unfortunately, the Duke’s godfather King Charles can’t make it, nor can Queen Camilla. The Princess of Wales continues to undergo cancer treatment in the privacy of her own home.
Either way, it was a glorious occasion. Grosvenor and the Duchess of Westminster have said they plan on moving to Cheshire following the wedding, perhaps returning to Eaton Hall to put down roots.
Speaking of the move to Cheshire, the Duke said recently: ‘We’ve obviously got a long association with the cathedral as a family. We were here for my father’s memorial, my sister’s wedding and every Remembrance Sunday that I can attend is here.’ He continued: ‘I’m unbelievably excited and I also wanted to make it very clear how unbelievably helpful people have been, how supportive they’ve been so far, which I’m unbelievably grateful for because I do realise that it’s going to be a big, big thing for the city.’ Olivia, too, was full of praise for the city, revealing that ‘it’s obviously a place where we will live’.
