There’s a great anecdote from soviet times in Poland, I heard it on the radio during a history segment, so maybe it’s legit:
For Stalin’s namesday the workers from various factories were told to write postcards to Stalin, with best wishes to him.
One anonymous postcard contained a message that the censors didn’t know if and how to censor. It said: “We wish onto comrade Stalin the same that the comrade Stalin wishes onto us”.
The censorship decided that despite not being being technically an offense to Stalin, the postcard needs to be suppressed. The general populace took it as a sign that in the end, comrade Stalin, doesn’t wish them all that well (sarcasm).
