DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Multiple law enforcement agencies were gathered at an apartment in downtown Decatur Thursday afternoon for what appeared to be a raid.
An eyewitness told WAND News they saw several officers break a glass door and go inside. At least two people were walked out by law enforcement and several boxes were brought down from the upper floor.
A WAND photojournalist noted multiple plainclothes officers at an apartment door entrance at 155 W. Main.
The address comes back to an entrance to several apartments above store fronts on West Main Street. The entrance is located between a dance studio and restaurant.
Officers on scene would not provide information to WAND.
Friday morning, Macon County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Scott Flannery told WAND News that there was no involvement from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office
An agent from the FBI Springfield office said that the agency was not conducting any operations with the Decatur Police Department on Thursday, but that he believed DPD was working with another Federal Government Agency.
DPD would only confirm that the department was assisting Homeland Security. WAND has reached out to DHS for more information.
This is a developing story.
