  1. Would suit quiet ghost who works 18-hour shifts 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and frequently travels, no pets.

  2. I know we got a decent deal for the same area, but my husband and I pay not a lot more for our two bed. Really intrigued whether they are stuck in a horrible contract or trying to get someone else to pay double what everyone else in the flat does.

  3. “Ideally doesn’t work from home everyday” is not “can’t work from home.”

Would you want a flatmate who is there all day every day?

People are getting way too trigger happy with these karma-hunting “omg look at this entitled room advert!!!” posts.

This room is too expensive, other than that it is a seemingly reasonable advert written written by a seemingly reasonable person.

  4. Dunno. Seems reasonable for three people looking for a fourth to live with them that they might have some preferences about that sort of thing.

  5. Imagine wanting to dictate how much time a person can spend in their home.

  6. First off, it’s a ripoff. But if they get the entire top floor why does it matter if they work from home or not? Is someone going to go up and use their space?

  7. I pay 1600 for a 2 bed near Stratford (2 min walk to a tube station with elizabeth line).

    This is absolutely ridiculous

  8. I love how the listing is 10 minutes to Baron’s court and 10 minutes to West Brompton, but the river is nowhere near either of those stations.

  9. I used to live in that area. Given the rent includes all bills (presumably council tax, internet, gas, electric, water, TV licence, possibly landline – that lot must be £250 a month nowadays?) it’s expensive but for a large ensuite not unreasonable?

  10. I pay 1450 for one bed apartment in Manor park, rents in desi areas are way more high than rest of london.

  11. Totally fair preference imo, nobody wants flatmates who are home all day every day. Also nothing worse than people who use shared communal spaces to work in shared spaces (unless it’s agreed / dedicated WFH set up)

  12. £1.6k for a houseshare with 3 other people including a couple is the biggest piss take in here

  13. 10 minute walk to the river with loads of cute pubs. Not that you’ll be able to afford them when you’ve finished paying for your rent. Instead you’ll be drinking yourself into a stupor on Tesco value voddie, sat alone in your room. As long as you don’t do it during the week – you’ll have to go and sit in the park if that’s the case, as you’re not allowed to be home during the day.

  14. Whilst I think the not working from home EVERYDAY thing is fair. I don’t care how nice the place is nowhere in London is worth £1600 for a fucking room lol. That’s more than the rent for my whole two bed flat.

  15. “Sadly” why? They should be happy for them especially what that bullshit rent.

  16. If an individual is having a decent income, is able to pay their bills on time, and is a sociable and tidy housemate…

I wouldn’t care if that person works from his room all day. What matters to me is how they take care of the house they live in and themselves.

But I guess that poster is speaking from experience, and prefers ppl who WFO at least a few days a week.

  17. This happened to me a few years back when I went to view a house share. I’ve got a solid job, was incredibly friendly and polite, earnt an excellent salary, yet because I would be WFH 3 days per week, the landlady said it was an issue? So I was turned down.

This never happened pre Covid – I.e landlords being this pedantic.

  18. Someone in that flat is definitely not paying any rent/getting a very good deal…

  19. 1.6k to be told you need to leave that space empty for the 9-5 is something else. If I’m paying 1.6k, you are not telling me how or when.

  20. Something needs to actually done about rent spaces. There is nothing in between social housing and extortion rent prices. And if you take the former you are a scrounger apparently

  21. “Gals”. “Cute pubs”. Are the Live Laugh Love cushions included in the price?

  22. 1600 and you cant work from home is DIABOLICAL. wtf are you even paying for atp.

  23. You just now they‘ve been “selling” this outdoor furniture to every flatmate 😀

  24. You can rent a 1 bed riverside flat to yourself in the estate I live in at Docklands for this price. A proper purpose flat, not some shite conversion. You have access to 2 DLR lines and crossrail. Galleons lock if your interested.

  25. There are new builds 10 mins on foot from Canary Wharf charging £1,600 for a 1 bed.

  26. £1600 gets you your own very nice one bed with concierge and in zone 2

  27. London prices, and they don’t want you working from home because that can make a big difference to the bills
