The annual inflation rate in Moldova slowed to 8.6% in February 2025, down from a 17-month high of 9.1% in January.
The main downward pressure came from moderated services inflation, which eased to 16.3% from 18% in January, primarily due to slowing electricity costs.
Price growth for non-food products also slowed to 4% from 4.7%, driven by lower fuel costs.
In contrast, food inflation rose to 7.9% from 7.4%, driven by higher prices for meat, milk and dairy products, eggs, and vegetable oil.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew 0.2%, sharply cooling from a 2.8% jump in the previous period.
