Nearly seven years later, Meghan Markle’s royal wedding makeup artist Daniel Martin is finally revealing the products he used to create her wedding day glow.
Speaking on the March 12 episode of the Breaking Beauty podcast, Martin—who appears in the premiere episode of Meghan’s Netflix show With Love, Meghan—debunks a myth that he used a certain product on perhaps his most famous bridal client. He did confirm though that he used “a lot of Tatcha, and, I mean, I was with Dior then, so a lot of the Backstage had just launched.”

Martin is now global director of artistry at Tatcha; the founder of the company, Vicky Tsai, is also a friend of Meghan’s and appeared in episode 7 of her eight-part Netflix series. Previously, Martin served as a brand ambassador for Dior Beauty, and the Dior Backstage line launched in June 2018. For context, Meghan married Prince Harry on May 19 of that same year.
“Her whole face was pretty much Dior Backstage,” Martin said on Breaking Beauty, adding, “This is the first time I’ve ever said this.”
He also told co-hosts Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins that he used a MAC lip liner on her lip, and said of a favorite lip product, “I created the lip tint for Tatcha. Plum Blossom is a great one.”

He also mentioned Meghan’s December 4 appearance honoring friend Tyler Perry at the Paley Center Honors Gala, sharing he used Live Tinted Hueglow Liquid Highlighter Drops, specifically the Golden Hour shade, to create Meghan’s glowy skin.
“I wanted it to be a part of the look,” Martin said, adding that his “makeup inspo” for Meghan that night was Pat McGrath, specifically what she did for Maison Margiela last year at the brand’s Couture show in Paris.
“I think that was, like, a breakthrough,” he said. “Like, that was what it was supposed to be. A breakthrough beauty moment, runway, backstage, like, old school—like how we all fell in love with fashion and makeup. That was such a fucking moment that I was like, ‘How do I do this? How do I get that same effect but using what we have?’ Because at the time, her product wasn’t out yet.”
Of McGrath’s Glass Artistry Mask, Martin said, “she’s a fucking genius.”

Of Meghan’s wedding day makeup, Martin told People in 2021, “I’ve never spoken publicly about what it is I used on her [for the wedding]. That’s always going to be the mystery. That’s always going to come up, but it is all good. I’m just really fortunate that I was part of that celebration of my friend’s wedding.”
Of forever being associated with Meghan’s wedding, he continued, “Meghan and I, we talk about this all the time. I’m always going to be that person, how some people are, I’m always going to be Meghan Markle’s makeup artist for the rest of my life. Which is totally fine because we’re friends. I think if we didn’t have a personal connection, it would definitely be different.”
