Prince Harry should continue his “professional separation” from Meghan Markle, it has been warned. The Duke, 40, and Duchess of Sussex, 43, have seemingly taken different routes when it comes to their work – with both continuing working on separate projects. Meghan recently released her new eight-part series, With Love, Meghan, on Netflix – a five-year deal that the couple signed together in 2020.
Harry has also released his own projects via Netflix, including his most recent documentary series, Polo. However, PR experts have exclusively told GB News that Harry should distance himself from his wife on the professional front for a little while longer.
Edward Coram James, PR expert and CEO of Go Up, told the publication that the joint Sussex brand is “tainted”.
He added: “They are correct to be rebranding as separate entities. Once their individual popularities have increased again, then they can go about reinvigorating their joint brand.
“But, right now, they need to be doing everything they can to professionally distance themselves from the past three years.
“When you think ‘Meghan and Harry’, most will think of the rollercoaster since that terribly ill-advised Oprah interview.”
Speaking of what the couple should do in the present moment, he added: “So, for now, they must rebrand themselves professionally as ‘Meghan’ and ‘Harry’. When the time is right, they can become ‘Meghan and Harry’ again.”
Also speaking to GB News, PR and Social media expert Caitlin Jardine at Ellis Digital added that the couple need to ensure that their separate brands compliment one another – whilst still remaining true to themselves.
She said: “They come from two very different backgrounds, they carry their own individual narratives separate from their marriage. They both have their own distinct voice that speaks directly their own audiences and Meghan must ensure that she continues to project this, all whilst keeping it aligned to their shared values.”
