It would be interesting to compare this to how many actually end up voting.
Makes no difference if they don’t vote
So this is why they want to kill the DoE
Would be interesting to compare to say 10 or 20 years ago, same ages groups then. I keep hearing that that men in particular are skewing more right than before.
49th Harvard Youth Poll? So the data is not reliable at all?! 😅
So less educated then, huh. Now why doesn’t that make sense
“Liberal” doesn’t actually mean anything to Americans anymore.
No lean is like having no opinion if you want an arm cut off or not.
Lol, no lean is full of maga. That’s why this looks weird. They’ve convinced everyone that maga is center
Liberal – Conservative isn’t an axis.
It is Progressive vs Conservative or Liberal vs Authoritarian.
You can be conservative and liberal or progressive and authoritarian.
And now you know why the American Right is attacking college. College creates Liberals, in their eyes. Regardless of the fact that fewer college graduates would massively weaken the country.
Half of the “no lean” is just people who would vote Republican pretending to be centrists.
Now someone explain to me what liberal and conservative mean in 2025.
No way !!! You’re telling me that the average young Republican is an uneducated white male living in outback rural shitholes ???
Are you liberal, liberal, liberal, or would you rather not answer?
And we see why the Department of Education is being targeted.
This was a poll done before the 2024 election. This one is funny because you can directly check it against voting data which shows drastically different data
Interesting that 18-24 is slightly more conservative than 25-29. There is definitely a sense that Gen Z is more conservative (especially men) compared to millennials as being right wing has become more of a counterculture. It will be interesting to see if this continues.
That conservative number has been 28% for almost any population for as long as I can remember, easily 25 years. The only reason conservatives have control of everything is voter apathy. Theirs are not popular opinions.
How can I see this graph for ages 30-39
Why put the no answer cohort on the right? Skews the visual understanding of the size of left and right
My takeaway is stay in school kids!
So I’ll say this, I doubt this poll and it’s probably biased based on sample. Whether that’s leaning more on college students or women I’m not sure.
The youth vote split 47% Trump vs 51% Harris. More young men voted for Trump (+14%) and more young women voted for Harris (+17%). Overall turnout was about 42%.
Unless liberals were vastly less likely to vote or the vast majority of the ‘no lean’ are just conservatives in disguise, data results just don’t make sense here. I don’t think the youth vote is nearly as liberal as this poll indicates.
Thinking about if this demographic actually votes brings me to this song:
In other words, the more knowledge of and experience with people different from yourself, the more liberal of view you tend to be.
When you live in a city or suburban area, you meet people different from yourself and discover that they are nothing to fear. The same is true when you study at a university.
Look at voting maps by county of a red state like Texas. The counties that have big cities in them (El Paso, Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio) all vote blue. I’d bet this pattern is true for all red states.
