Prince William revealed their cocker spaniel sleeps in the bed with Kate and himself each night. The royal told Louise Harland, who later explained to Hits Radio Cornwall: “[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate.
“[He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he’s never met one of those breeds, he’s a Cockerjack, so he’s a little bit of a unique combination.”

William also spoke of their guinea pigs during an event at Woodgate Valley Urban Farm last year. He told people at the engagement: “These guys are pretty cool. We’ve got guinea pigs at home and they are not like this.
“I have to spend my life cleaning out the guinea pig cage because the children forget to do it. And then they run off because you have to handle them all the time, that’s why these ones are so calm.
“The ones we’ve got at home, they’re off. You have to keep them constantly stroked and looked after.” Kate’s brother, James Middleton, is famous for his love of dogs—as noted in his memoir, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have owned two black cocker spaniels over the years: Lupo, who passed away in 2020, and Orla, their current pup. Orla, who was given to the couple by James before Lupo’s death, has been seen by the public on very few occasions until she was spotted in the princess’s cancer update video last year.
While Orla posed in Princess Charlotte’s seventh birthday photos, the only time she’s appeared in public is when the Waleses attended the 2022 Royal Charity Polo Cup.
The couple kept their dog’s existence a secret until January 2021, despite receiving the puppy at some point in 2020 from James, who bred a litter of puppies from Lupo’s sister, Luna.
