  1. ***The Telegraph reports***:

Scotland Yard reinstated a 999 call handler who was sacked after he made an inappropriate remark about Sarah Everard and labelled a rape victim a “slut”, The Telegraph can reveal.

The Met Police staff member was sacked for gross misconduct in November 2023 after a panel heard allegations that he had also made racist remarks about crime victims and had followed a female colleague home.

He was reinstated just four months later after successfully arguing that his dismissal was too harsh.

The Met boss who gave him his job back allegedly suggested the misconduct panel had been “too emotional” following the publication of a damning report by Baroness Casey that labelled the Met as institutionally racist and misogynistic.

The female call handler who first blew the whistle on his alleged behaviour is now suing the Met for constructive dismissal, claiming she can no longer work alongside him.

Issy Vine, 30, from Wimbledon, south-west London, lodged a formal complaint against the male colleague in April 2023 alleging that he had made a series of deeply offensive comments during the previous shift.

In an email to her boss, seen by The Telegraph, she claimed she had been sitting next to the man as he was taking a digital report from an alleged rape victim.

The alleged victim explained how she had become pregnant as a result of the attack and had also contracted a sexually transmitted infection.

Ms Vine alleged that at this point her male colleague had “used his hand to cover his mouth and commented, ‘she sounds like a slut’.”

Later in the shift Ms Vine claimed she had been on a call herself when the male colleague nudged her and said: “Can I be unkind? … I have just had a call from an immigrant.”

She said he then showed her his mobile phone where he had written: “Why don’t you f— off back to y

    our own country?”

During a third incident in the same shift, he allegedly described the Clapham Common district of south London as “Sarah Everard turf”, in reference to the fact she was abducted from there by Wayne Couzens, a serving Met officer at the time.

Ms Vine also told her bosses that when the shift had finished at around 11pm the man had allegedly followed her onto the bus and tube, despite previously telling her he lived in the opposite direction.

  2. 3 incidents on one shift is crazy, this guy is a danger to the public

  3. All these chances you wouldn’t even get working as a cleaner never mind with the police!

  4. I bet this isnt the only time this guy has done things like this.

  5. The Police literally tell their staff and officers that if you see this kind of shit and don’t report it, then you can be brought up on misconduct as well.

Then this person does precisely that and the guy is given a second chance. It doesn’t explicitly say either way but even if he was given a second chance he should have never been put back into the same role.

  6. Am I reading it right? Met Police need to do a complete overhaul and remove the peodos first don’t they 🥱

  7. We can all collectively feel reassured he will deal with “sluts” and minorities in an appropriate manner in future /s

Good thing he doesn’t have any meaningful responsibility.in determining where to request police assistance most urgently and doesn’t have any kind of bias that we are aware of that will impact certain victims of crimes

  8. UK emergency response operators are not professionals. I’ll never forget them hanging up on me for swearing when I had someone break into my house. I had to call back 3 times and repeat the emergency each time after going through the whackamole of “ help, someone is in my home “ ok – so you need fire ambulance or police?” Morons

  9. Christ, I know it’s still awful he said that but my interpretation of the headline was that he said it TO the victim while she was phoning in to report the rape. Thank god that isn’t the case.

  10. I consider myself a normal lad, I like football, I like the pub, but this is why when asked I consider myself a feminist because I’m sorry but what world are we living in when following a woman home isn’t considered extremely dangerous and not grounds for dismissal.

How many dead girls are we going to have before people wake up and realise you need to nip this shit in the bud immediately and give these fuckers absolutely no room to breathe.

If some guy had followed my wife home or intimidated her I’d be beside myself, I just don’t know how bosses can look at that and go “yeah it was harsh actually”

Especially when he’s making jokes about a murdered woman and calling a rape victim a Slut. I don’t understand why people can’t look at stuff in totality?

    – calls a rape victim a slut

    – jokes about a women who raped and lurdered

    – follows a woman home.

This is a dangerous pattern of behaviour and I just think some men, who are otherwise normal decent guys just weirdly seem too ready to sweet stuff under the rug cos it makes them uncomfortable

  11. Big shock, the same Met that doesn’t do thorough background checks on its coppers and employs people who have nicknames like “Rapey Dave”.
