20 or 30 years ago I went “Wow!!”, but since the advent of social media this is one of those Daily Mail type, “Today people are finding out about these London fences” type repetitive click bait things.
To be fair, it was an ingenious ‘waste not, want not’ recycling idea.
This presenter Alice is one of the best when it comes to history stuff…
She focuses a lot on old estates, paintings, cathedrals and just history in general.
Alice Loxton is great. Love watching her stuff on YouTube.
This went from ‘fascinating’ to ‘are they taking the piss?’ Really quick with the dramatic music, slow mo shots of a railing and ending on Hankey place
The cannons are my personal favourite of the “recycled street furniture”.
Wow. I knew the railings had been chopped down to help ‘the war effort’.
I had no idea they had also been re-used to replace the railings after the war.
