  1. EXCLUSIVE – British Special Forces have been put on standby to head to Ukraine as part of the UK’s peacekeeping mission as an agreement over a ceasefire edge closer, *The i Paper* can reveal.

    The command centre for UK military planning , the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ), was sent directives last week to begin the process for the deployment of personnel and resources. 

    The orders, which also applied to Special Force reservists, put personnel on standby in order to ensure military equipment is in working order before receiving a notice to mobilise to Ukraine.

    A decision to put key troops on standby comes as Britain prepares to host military chiefs from a group of countries ready to support a ceasefire agreement with Russia. On Saturday,[ Sir Keir Starmer](https://inews.co.uk/topic/keir-starmer?srsltid=AfmBOoqG5b5w6oPf6qIQ0FLaDNsk76zLNi0fwkPxScd1aYfUOWKKcIFD&ico=in-line_link) said plans to put a peacekeeping force in Ukraine have now entered an “operational phase”.

  2. Oh come on, they’ve been there for ages already.

  4. Genuine preparation or just signalling to Russia that they’ll find it impossible to fight on without risking WWIII if our troops are the human shield.

    I suspect it’s not a genuine mobilisation.

  5. Buzzword title. Special forces are special for infiltration, sabotage and intel gathering, also for the significant support resource allocated to them such as highly responsive air strike. On patrolling or frontal assault duty they do not have too much difference with regular troops, maybe have better stamina for the extra body training they receive.
