Interesting. Would be nice to maybe split it out into one-hit wonders vs final year of successful career.

That is _remarkably stable_ over time
What troubles me about this is that you are comparing a one-hit wonder from the 60’s who did nothing great for the next sixty years or so with an artist from (say) 2020 who did nothing great for the next five years. Is that a valid comparison?
