I hate people choosing to live in zone 1 complaining about development as would happen in the centre of any big city. However, I concur that these new blocks are particularly ugly. I guess everyone loses here.
Public consultation and judicial review on planning matters needs to end alongside boroughs’ jurisdiction of applications. It entirely undermines the planning system.
Next door the people who sued Tate Modern to shut down the gallery’s balcony.
Must be something in the water.
When I worked in the City the people who lived in the Barbican used to complain about the office lights being on during the winter
> £35m London tower could face ‘demolition’
No, it could not. There is no chance of this case succeeding.
> as neighbours say it blocks reading light in bed
They can say whatever they want. Whether their case has merit is another matter and in this case it clearly does not. Their solicitor is of course happy to take their money and I am sure he will make suitably sympathetic faces when they lose.
Nobody is going to do well out of this, except for the lawyers.
What utter bellends.
This country is insane
What sun light 🤣
50 story buildings ruin the Thames path.
While I don’t agree with people stopping progress, I’d be much happier if the too high development was adjusted to be lower.
Neither of those people look like they’ve seen the sun in years.
Tbf not a fan of massive blocks near residential areas. Including flats. Would prefer flats be 5-8 stories maximum with space in between so ground floor still gets light.
I doubt anything will happen – a light assessment would have been made before the tower went up – just sour grapes

Absolute wankers.
