I’m sorry but that’s basically the norm. The F-35 programme is unique because it’s a multi nation project but generally everything that gets sold off to other countries, including ‘allied’ nations, is a downgraded model or simply an export variant.

This isnt anything new, and even europe does it, selling weapons systems with inferior specs so that the monkey model doesnt have a chance against the og european version.

This is the same reason Israel thought when they gave them the F-35i variant, but knowing how much money they poured down that drain it was just because they didn’t want their technology to end up in enemy territory.
But they wined so much they gave them the original version.
Also Germany discovered that the F-35 can be disabled remotely by their creators, so…
